Frequently Asked Questions - Union College Email

I sent a message to distribution list, like social@union.edu, but I don't see the message in my inbox. Did it get sent?

Yes it did get sent. When you send mail to any group or mailing list you subscribe to, Gmail automatically skips your inbox and archives the message to save you time and prevent clutter. The message will appear in your inbox if someone responds to it or if there is an error delivering the message. If you'd like to view your message, you can find it in Sent Mail or All Mail.

User accounts for graduating seniors will be kept active through the end of June of the following year after your graduation.  Information on what your options are and instructions on how to transfer your e-mail is located here.

What is Spam Filtering?

Union College has moved to a Google Apps for Education environment for e-mail services.  This environment scans for viruses and junk e-mail before it arrives in your inbox. Suspected messages are automatically moved to your SPAM folder.

How do I get an email account at Union?

You need to fill out an Application for Computer Account and return it to the ITS office. You can either download the form here or pick up the form in the ITS office. It will take 24 hours to create your account.

If you are either a student or faculty member from the Union Graduate College, please pick up the appropriate forms from the Registrar's Office in Lamont House.

How do I change my email password?

Email password reset tools are located here.  Select the appropriate link for the system that your email resides on.

If you encounter problems, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 388-6400 or visit the ITS Help Desk office located in Steinmetz Hall.
