On Friday, May 4, 2012 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, ITS would like to invite you to our Open House.
There will be food and giveaways (iTunes and Bookstore gift cards) along with short presentations on a variety of topics.
ITS has subscribed to a new online resource that is now available for the entire Union College community. The new subscription service is provided by the Gartner Group, the world's leading information technology research and advisory company.
Our campus community now has access to the same IT research information and webinars utilized by the majority of Fortune 1000 and Global 500 companies. Gartner provides research in the following areas:
During the Peter Irving Wold Center dedication ceremonies in May 2011, a donation of an IBM Intelligent Cluster was announced by John E. Kelly III ’76, senior vice president of IBM, providing the College with the greatest computing capability of any undergraduate liberal arts college in the nation. The cluster arrived on campus at the end of July and has been installed and configured in preparation for supporting faculty research.
On July 1, 2011 ITS was reorganized to gain some efficiencies and to provide better service to the Union College community. The major changes included creating a single User Support group, creating an Enterprise System group, folding Media Services into Academic Computing and merging Telecommunications and Networking.
Results from the 2010-2011 Moodle Pilot, which involved 30 faculty members, recommended that Moodle replace Blackboard as the College’s Learning Management System. Union College’s implementation of Moodle will be known as “Nexus” – the link between teaching and learning; where collaboration occurs and connections are made.
